ICA, LIVE THE LANGUAGE:
Guatemala: Quetzaltenango
Instituto Central América (ICA) has been offering Spanish language classes to students of all levels since 1976 and is fully accredited by the Ministry of Education and INGUAT (The Guatemalan Tourist (Institute). ICA offers a one-on-one experience where the teachers are
attentive to the needs and interests of the individual student. In addition, we are dedicated to teaching our students about the complex political, social and economic situation in Guatemala, using a unique blend of resources, activities, and contacts.

OUR SPANISH PROGRAM.
ICA's total immersion approach has been developed over the years and has been proven effective. Our approach consists of three basic parts:
1. THE SPANISH CLASSES
2. THE GUATEMALAN FAMILY
3. THE GUATEMALAN CULTURE

THE SPANISH CLASSES:
Our total immersion program consists of one-on-one, personalized language instruction where the student is immersed in the language from the start for five hours a day, five days a week.
Our teachers are university-trained and experienced adjusting the level and topics of discussion to the pace and interest of the student. All instructors receive an 8-week intensive training course before being
accepted.

In addition, they receive refresher courses every six months. At the beginning of each week,after an informal initial assessment, the instruction program is set up according to the time requirements and language needs of the student. |

Each week the teachers are rotated to provide the students with a better overall understanding and to allow them to experience different Spanish accents.
We use visual aid materials, pronunciation exercises, drills, dialogues, and role-playing and oral exercises to keep the classes stimulating. We are now using our very own textbook, researched and put together by our teachers specifically for our program at ICA.

We have other textbooks, as well, and we loan them to the students with a refundable deposit of $20 or the equivalent in quetzals. |
