Die Escuela Minerva ist mehr als bloß eine Schule, in der man sich mit der Spanischen Sprache auseinandersetzt und ist, als kleinste Schule Guatemalas überhaupt, eher mit einer Familie als mit einer Schule im europäischen Sinne zu vergleichen.

In Spitzenzeiten finden in den kleinen, schmucken Zimmern der Escuela Minerva bis zu acht Studenten Platz. Meistens sind es jedoch weniger.

Der Vorteil einer so kleinen Gemeinschaft ist wesentlich und dadurch unterscheidet sich die Escuela Minerva von den anderen Schulen in Guatemala:


Anstatt mit anderen Touristen und Weltenbummlern die Freizeit zu verbringen, nimmt der Kontakt zu den Lehrern, zur Gastfamilie und Freunden der Schule einen viel höheren Stellenwert ein. Zusätzlich lernt man dadurch viel leichter und rascher Spanisch.

Auf Ausflügen zu MáTkten, bei abendlichen Diskussionen über die Philosophie der Mayas oder während atemberaubender Aufstiege auf Vulkane, merkt man plötzlich, wie leicht und selbstverständlich es ist, sich in eine bis dahin fremde Welt einzugliedern, Freunde zu finden und Erfahrungen auszutauschen.


In diesem Sinne stellt die Escuela Minerva eine wahre Lebensschule dar, eine Lebensschule, in der die Menschlichkeit, die Herzlichkeit und Freude nicht gelernt, sondern gelebt wird.

Dass die Escuela Minerva offiziell zu den zehn besten im Lande gehört, mag ein weiteres Indiz für deren umfassende Qualität sein.

OUR LANGUAGE PROGRAM

Our language program includes all levels, from completely beginners to advanced and superior. It is comparable with the programs in the American and European universities.
We can cover all areas of interest, including Latin American literature. We are the only Spanish school in Latin America that gives the posibility to the students (of the superior level in Spanish) to write a thesis.

OUR LEGAL STATUS
Our Spanish school is legaly registrated and qualified by the National Tourist Institute and Departmant of Education. It is a small school with the capacity of 15 students. We guarantee personal attention and an immediate cultural and language immersion.

We offer exclusivly classes in Mayan ancient anthropology and Latin American economy and politics (aditionally and optionally).


ROOM & LODGING
The students lives with selected families, that only speak Spanish. Special attention will be given to all the students (vegetarian diet, etc.).

THE EXCLUSIVE MAYAN ANTROPOLOGY COURSE OF THE MINERVA SCHOOL
Included in the Spanish course package are courses on salsa dancing, Economy, History and politics of Latin America. Maybe you can find some of these courses in some other good schools in Latin America, but our courses on MAYAN ANCESTRAL ANTHROPOLOGY (a summary of old Mayan wisdom) you will find it exclusively here in our School. In this course, you will learn, know and experience the lively way of thinking of the great indigenous masters in the Mayan culture and other cultures of Central America with more than one thousand years of existence. This course is TOTALLY EXCLUSIVE of Minerva Spanish School in Latin America.

SPECIAL COURSE FOR CHILDREN
(Another exclusive of Minerva Spanish School)


We have the experience and capability of taking care of "young adults". Children more than five years old can learn Spanish here in Minerva Spanish School along with the adults through appropriate teaching methods, with one teacher for each student (one to one), in an enjoyable and stimulating environment. Our Minerva Spanish School special children program is the only one like it in Central America. The fee for this program is the same cost as the adults ($125.00 per week).

VOLUNTER WORK
The voluntary work is optional. It is connected to the project "Solidaridad". The project is primary aimed at the children who needs education, but also includes medical asistance, education for women, construcion of schools, creation of small factories, social and economical studies of poor families. The students can volenteer in work in the sectiones That are actual in the moment. It is possible to study in the morning and do voluntary work in the afternoon.

SPECIAL SERVICE - MEET YOU IN THE AIRPORT
Many of the students who study at Minerva have little or no previous experience here in Guatemala. Arriving in a foreign country with a limited ability to communicate can be stressful to put it mildly. Minerva can arrange for you to be greeted in the Aurora airport and taken to a first class hotel in Guatemala City (POSADA BELEN HOTEL - Museum 13 Street "A" 10-30 Zone 1). The cost for the taxi - airport/hotel, hotel/bus - and the rooms are from $36. At the Posada Hotel-Museum, youwill also receive special tourist information too.

QUETZALTENANGO
Quetzaltenango is the 2nd largest city in Guatemala, 4 hours west of Guatemala City. It is located 2200 meters above sea level. The nights can therefore be cold (5-10 C), but the days are warm (15-25 C). Quetzaltenango has a unique landscape, surrounded by mountains, volcanos, natural hotsprings and indigenous pueblos and markets. Its geographical location is ideal for day trips and excursions.
